Ashley Marie Johnson came into the world in June of 1984 and passed away peacefully during the Christmas holidays of 2004 at the young age of 20. She will be remembered forever in the hearts of everyone who knew her and loved her. This memorial site was created to her memory and as a place where people close to Ashley could celebrate her life.
Shortly after her birth, Ashley came to live with her parents Bob and Peggy in Morinville, Alberta. She remained very close to her birthmom Polly even after Ashley and her parents moved to Comox B.C. in 1996. She very proudly boasted about having two moms, one dad, five sisters, three brothers, and twenty-two nieces and nephews.
In 2002, Ashley graduated from Highland Secondary. At Highland she enjoyed band, choir and vocal jazz. She was enrolled at North Island College and was looking forward to a career in human services or in music therapy as a way to help people. Helping people and animals was very important to Ashley. She volunteered at the SPCA, Therapeudic Riding, and youth groups at Comox Pentecostal Church and Youth for Christ.
Ashley loved many things. One of her many loves was music, be it singing or playing one of her many musical intruments. Before she passed away Ashley was learning to play the guitar, and was ecstatic about playing her first song, Greendays "Time of Your Life" to her mom and her boyfriend. She loved her guitar. She played her piano daily and often soothed her Mother's frazzled nerves with a few minutes of Pachabel's Canon or Fur Elyse.
Other things that Ashley liked were games and movies. Boardgames were a hit with Ashley and when with any of her friends Monopoly would always come up as something fun to do. And when it came to movies, Ashley could never turn down a good cartoon, her favorite being Anime cartoons. She watched her collection over and over so much that she could repeat the whole movie as it played, word for word. Even at the age of 20, she was young at heart.
Ashley has joined niece Leah Brule and nephew Justin Brule in the arms of our Lord. Leaving behind to miss her dearly are parents Peggy and Bob, Polly and Mark, brothers and sisters Mary, Bryan, Lori, Wayne, Vicki, Mike, Michele, Cheryl and their spouses and nieces Chrissy,Amy,Kelly,Robynn, Jayme, Brynn, Taylor, Petra, Brenna, Megan, Tara, Vanessa, Sammy Jo and nephews Aaron,Kyle, Adam, Gilbert, Syd, Cole, Mathew, and Sean. Ashleys Favorite Bible Verse "Love is patient, love is kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, it does not get puffed up, it does not behave indecently, it does not look for its own interests, it does not become provoked. It does not keep account of the injury. It does not rejoice over evil, but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, hopes all things, believes all things, endures all things. Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
With You I was with you...all day today. I walked with you, along the way. I’ve seen your eyes. I know your fear. I wish you understood how I am here. I am here because you know me. You know me through and through. You recognize my voice, because it recognizes you. The truth says it’s not different now, only you can’t see Because you use your eyes and ears, you may not know it’s me. So, close your eyes and rest your thought, let me show you how To know that I am with you, so you will never doubt. I use the wind, instead of lips, when I want to kiss your cheek. I’m morning dew in the air that makes you think of me. I’m the bird outside your window that wakes you way too soon. I’ll be the loudest of them all, so you’re sure to catch my tune. Give to me the moment, every time I cross your mind. Don’t dare pull away, because you lack the time. I’m trying very hard to tell you I am near. On the radio, there I am, the very next song you hear. I have a message just for you. Don’t pull away, let it through. Listen! Listen! Not for my voice, listen! Shhhhh. Those words are my choice. There’s a stranger passing by, bumps your shoulder, catch his eye. There I am. Please be kind. The old book you found yesterday underneath the bed, Turn the page, stop anywhere. Tell me, what have you read? Me! A message from me, the only way I do. There I am, everywhere. Now I’m more a part of you. I’m the flower in your garden that blooms with little rain, Giving you beauty, in color, in hopes to ease your pain. I’m a child with a smile or a baby with a tear. Look at my face carefully, can’t you see me clear? I will help you now, carry your burden light. Know that I will hold you. Walk your days and sleep your nights. I can do this now, because I have no limit you see. I have all the world as tools to give you Love from Me. Although it’s time to close this note, my words still linger on, And my heart is burning brightly now, so Listen! Shhhhh. This is our song
